M. Bryan Freeman - President
The founder and president of Habersham Funding, LLC ("Habersham Funding") has spent over 16 years working in the life settlement industry. Bryan began his career as an insurance agent, operating his own independent agency for many years giving him knowledge of life insurance that is unparalleled in the industry. Bryan has personally been involved in the purchase and sale of life insurance policies with a total face value of nearly $1 billion, making him an undisputed leader in the industry. Not only is he a volume leader, but Bryan is widely recognized as an international expert on life settlements, speaking globally on life insurance and life settlement topics.1
Bryan recently completed serving an unprecedented fourth term as President of the Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA, formerly the VLSAA)
and continues to serve on LISA's Board of Directors and as LISA's Vice President for Legislative Affairs. With its more than 90 members, the LISA is more than just the national trade association for the life settlement industry, it is the voice and conscience of the industry; and it is only logical that its members would choose the authority in life settlement to lead it for an unprecedented four consecutive terms.
In conjunction with his senior executives, Bryan advocates for the development of responsible regulation and legislation for life settlements. His activism helped U.S. veterans gain the right to transact settlements, and cleared the way for tax-free treatment for some settlements. On numerous occasions, Bryan has testified before the National Association of Insurance Commissioners
and the National Conference of Insurance Legislators
as well as to state and federal legislative committees on industry-related issues.
Bryan conducted his first life settlement in Georgia in 1989 in response to a request from a friend confronting a terminal illness. For more than a decade, Bryan ran a highly successful life settlement brokerage, giving him significantly more experience in life settlements than most involved in the industry today.
