The life settlement authority
It takes more than volume and experience to be the market authority; it takes a
commitment to the constant improvement of the industry and its products, a relentless
dedication to integrity, and an outspoken advocacy on behalf of the people it serves.
The principals of Habersham Funding, LLC ("Habersham Funding") have done
more to further the best interests of the life settlement market and the policy
owners it serves than anyone else in the industry.
Quite simply, Habersham Funding is the authority in the life settlement market.
M. Bryan Freeman, Habersham Fundings founder and president, helped to establish
the Life Insurance Settlement Association
(LISA, formerly the VLSAA), the national trade association for the life settlement
industry, and is serving his fourth term as its president. In his first term as
LISA president, Bryan called for the passage of landmark standards of business conduct
for the settlement industry. He shepherded the proposal through the LISA membership,
resulting in the industrys first set of comprehensive Business Operating Standards.
For over a decade Bryan has called for responsible life settlement legislation nationwide,
along with greater self-policing and self-regulation of the industry. The LISAs
Business Operating Standards are just one example of his leadership in this area.
Bryan, along with other Habersham Funding employees and associates, are frequent
speakers and consultants on life settlement regulatory issues and business principles
to the National Association of Insurance
Commissioners (NAIC) and to the National
Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL). In addition, Bryan helped
U.S. veterans gain the right to settle their veterans group coverage at any time,
assisted in earning tax-free treatment for some settlements and helped author and
has testified about numerous states legislation on viatical and life settlements.
Bryan has spoken extensively on the topic of life settlements for over 10 years,
has been approved as a speaker for continuing education for many professionals including
attorneys, accountants, physicians, insurance agents and financial planners, has
served as an expert witness in legal cases concerning the life settlement industry
and was the keynote speaker for the BVZL (the German Life Settlement Association)
Conference in the spring of 2005.
